Moha La Squale, Romeo Elvis: two rappers indicted for acts of sexual assault

The Paris prosecutor's office opened an investigation on Tuesday, September 8, for "violence", "sexual assault" and "kidnapping" after complaints from three women against the Parisian rapper Moha La Squale. The plaintiffs, aged 23 to 28, "provided the police with fairly long testimonies" and "the hearings ended early this morning," their lawyer Thibault Stumm told AFP. "Some facts go back more than two years, others to a few months," he added.

This opening of an investigation closes a sequence that began on Sunday, the day since which the 25-year-old rapper has been targeted on social networks by accusations of sexual violence and threats from several young women, some of whom have expressed their willingness to carry complaint. But the story does not end there, since since Tuesday, a new rapper has been the subject of a charge of sexual assault, and his identity is far from trivial: it is Romeo Elvis, brother of Belgian singer Angèle.

"I'm really ashamed"

On social networks, a young woman simply indicated, with the #balancetonrappeur, that the artist, performed with her sister from the hit "Forget everything", had "sexually assaulted" her, without giving more details publicly on the exact nature of the facts. But she accompanied this post with screenshots of her private conversation with the rapper, and they leave no room for doubt. We see Romeo Elvis apologizing "for what happened", adding that "it was really rubbish".

Moha La Squale already in court

Although the two series of accusations are linked in time, the profiles of the two rappers are different with respect to justice, since Moha La Squale must also be tried in March for an aggravated refusal to comply, outrage on person depositary of public authority and rebellion. He was arrested in June following a routine traffic check, the police having noted that he was the subject of a search warrant for a "motorcycle rodeo" a month before.
