It's been almost a year and a half since season 3 of The Last Kingdom was posted on Netflix. The wait is now over, as Uhtred of Bebbanburg returns to war now. Season 4 is indeed available on the streaming platform.
If you are not familiar with this adaptation of Bernard Cornwell's Saxon Chronicles, The Last Kingdom follows Uhtred of Bebbanburg, orphaned son of a noble Saxon who is kidnapped as a child by the Scandinavians and brought up among them. As an adult, he must constantly choose between the kingdom of his origins and the people who saw him grow up. In an England made up of several kingdoms where Anglo-Saxon lands are attacked and governed by the Danes, Uthred must pledge allegiance to Alfred, king of Wessex. He then waged many battles. A chapter in the history of England turned at the end of season 3 with the death of Alfred and the ascension to the throne of his son Edward.
Based on books 7 and 8 by Bernard Cornwell, The Pagan Lord and The Empty Throne, this season 4 of 10 episodes of, The Last Kingdom continues the story as Edward and Aethelflaed fight over the future of Mercia and Alfred's dream of seeing a united England. For his part, Uthred is fighting on his side to recover what is rightfully his.
In the cast of this season 4 of The Last Kingdom, we find Alexander Dreymon, Joseph Millson, Ian Hart, Toby Regbo, Emily Cox, Timothy Innes, Eliza Butterworth, Mark Rowley, Millie Brady, Eva Birthistle, Magnus Bruun and Jeppe Beck Laursen. They are joined by Stefanie Martini and Jamie Blackley.
